What is Lunar Cycle Yoga?
Lunar yoga is a practice that aligns with the phases of the moon. If you’ve read my previous post you’ll know It involves adjusting your yoga practice according to the lunar cycle, incorporating elements of mindfulness, meditation, gentle movements, and restorative poses. The lunar phases, such as the new moon and the full moon, are believed to influence energy levels and emotions, and lunar yoga aims to harness these energies for physical and emotional well-being.
The Process
During the new moon phase, which represents a time of new beginnings, lunar yoga may focus on setting intentions, self-reflection, and gentle movements to encourage inner growth and renewal. As the moon waxes towards the full moon, the practice might intensify, focusing on building strength and clarity. The full moon phase is often associated with increased energy and emotions, so lunar yoga during this time may include dynamic sequences to release tension and promote balance.
Circling Around
As the moon wanes towards the new moon again, the practice may shift towards restorative poses, meditation, and deep relaxation to facilitate introspection and letting go of what no longer serves you.
Overall, lunar yoga emphasizes connecting with the natural cycles of the moon, tuning into your own rhythms, and cultivating a sense of balance and harmony within yourself and the universe.
